Raceway Woods, Sunday, October 11th, 2020

I'm trying something new. I haven't updated Phoebe's blog in maybe 8 or so years, so I thought I would use it to catalog my mountain bike rides in Chicagoland. My first attempt was Raceway Woods in Carpentersville, IL. It was about a 30 minute drive from my house, which is a bit further than I would prefer, but the drive was well worth it. The trails consist mainy of fire roads and paved paths, but those connect a variety of single track sections with cutbacks, jumps, and terrain that was just fun to ride. The day I went was a Fall Sunday and the weather was pretty nice, so there were a good amount of people out. That said, the single track had few people on it; the hikers mostly stuck to the fire roads and paved paths. I'd rate this as a good place to spend a day of mountain biking, connecting trails. It would also be a good place to take younger riders, as a person would be able to stay on trails as easy as you like.
